Hello from Myoko!
I first came to Myoko more than 20 years ago, when I was posted to a small town on the Japan Sea coast. It was just about as far from a big city as anywhere. Real inaka as they call it here. Now the new Hokuriku shinkansen goes through and the area is not as isolated.
When I came to Japan I was a keen skier and decided to take up the then new fad of snowboarding. On my very first day snowboarding at Ikenotaira Onsen I met a local Myoko Kogen girl and the rest, as they say, is history. Although we left the area for awhile the mountains kept calling us back, first for weeks, then months and now it is our home.
We love the different seasons here, the freedom for our kids and the laid back lifestyle. Once you scratch beneath the surface there is always something happening. Come and visit Myoko soon. We’re happy to show you around!
